Just spent over 3 hours trying to install Vista on some hardware that can only be a maximum of 2 years old! The main problem is that the manufacturer hasn’t bothered including Vista drivers on their site – presumably to push you to buy new models.
Anyway – so others don’t have to waste their night – here’s what you need:
A copy of 6-4_xp-2k_dd_31959.exe for the Radeon 9100 IGP (search google – there’s quite a few copies laying around but AMD don’t like direct links ).
A copy of the chipset drivers from Pundit (under Utilities) – it’s chipsetpart1.zip and chipsetpart2.zip.
Anyway – you need to use a USB key or CD etc, because the ethernet card isn’t detected out-of-the-box…
Shove the chipsetpart1 and part2 across unzipped, and then rather than run the Setup.exe, you have to go Control Panel>System>Device Manager. Then under Other devices – choose your ethernet card, right click and choose update driver. Then you must Browse for the driver and goto Chipset/NetDrv/NIC directory.
The Radeon driver installs in a similar manner (ie. If you just run it it’ll tell you that it won’t install), but tell it to look under ATI/support/6_4_xyzxyz and it work fine.
Hope that saves some people some time!!

… one Wall Street analyst is citing sources in saying that heavyweight Vodafone is all but a shoe-in for Europe. “Our sources indicate that Vodafone is most likely iPhone’s carrier partner for Europe,”.
My comments: Obviously whoever wrote this thinks that the iPhone will be huge over here — but they don’t realise that everything is moving towards 3G. The phone will make a big splash but when the users find out that it can’t do video calling, high speed data and doesn’t even come with a GPS they won’t come near it with a barge-pole!
I say go for the Nokia N95 instead.

I’ve just read one of the most honest things I have ever read over at violent acres. It’s split into three parts – Diary of a teenage runaway, Ultimate Luxury and Fifteen and Already a Wife. It’s one of the most heart-wrenching things I’ve ever read.
I can fully understand why she was hesitant at blogging about this before…
All I can say is good on you violent acres for dealing with this horrendous upbringing and not killing yourself or murdering your mother.

It seems that with the US election on it’s way, a lot of people are giving their opinions on the American way-of-life…
There are some very interesting comments cropping up, like When did America become a nation of frightened wimps?
… And also this blog entry about a presidential candidate saying that America was heading for bankrupcy.
All interesting stuff, hopefully people will sit-up and listen, but as always the main population are far too busy with their own lives to be thinking about things like the country’s financial state.
