Just reading an item posted on digg about an article on newsweek about the Internet. It’s very interesting the thoughts that this guy had…. He was so-so-so wrong, and it’s so easy for everyone to laugh about it, but I think if you think back to 1995 – you probably had similar cynical thoughts yourself (presuming you were online then!!).
I can remember using the web at the time – and it wasn’t exactly smooth-sailing… None of this new-fangled blogging for sure!! And can you remember having to pay £10 per month to demon for costly dial-up!! (And those 01xxx points-of-presence – no 0845 freeserve back then!)… KA9Q — WTF??
It’s interesting looking back… but I’m glad we’re in 2008

Just a quick note to say I’ve done some house-keeping on the eee stock site after someone pointed out that the pc world stock status didn’t seem correct. After a bit of investigating I found out that the pcworld site had been changed and their stock status was now executing a script rather than being an SSI (well – I presume this is how it worked!). Anyway – a few minutes later and I’ve fixed it.
It seems that quite a lot of these companies regularly tweak their sites – presumably the tweaks are designed to improve their sales numbers etc. Another example of a regular-site-tweaker is ebuyer… This is probably more-so with ebuyer because they’ve only recently overhauled the entire site – so they are probably going through a more general tweaking period.
Anyway – if anyone spots any other sites that look to have stock – but the stock checker disagrees – please please post a message on here, and don’t presume that someone else will already have contacted me… Oh – and thanks to the many people who have emailed me with retailer suggestions – most I’ve added and the remaining ones I’m looking into adding when I find some more spare time!

Just thought I’d post that I’ve had quite a bit of feedback about a few retailers listed on the EEE Stock system – and considering the comments I’ve forced the stock checker to report NO STOCK – instead of “IN STOCK” on purelygadgets and microwarehouse now… I know that could sound a bit odd – but it does appear that certain retailers seem to be stretching the truth when it comes to whether they have stock or not.
I understand that some people are bothered that they may slip down the order list – and that they’ll lose their place.
My only advice is: If a retailer says they have stock, but then cannot deliver… they don’t really deserve your custom.
EDIT: Please feel free to post ANY comments you have about ANY retailers to this list – your comments make the eeestock site better for everyone!

We’ve recently had a new litter of puppies – it can be difficult work but it’s great fun having puppies running around your home destroying everything!!
Anyway – just thought I would post a note on here saying that I’ve updated the site from the ground-up with wordpress and a new template, it’s got more of a web2.0 look now.

Just read this funny post from an IT contractor for the (US?) government. An organisation tried to sell him a special placement in their suppliers listings (for a price)… So he checked out their website and it had code like:
if (form.id.value=="buyers") {
if (form.pass.value=="gov1996") {
location="http://officers.reallystupidcompany.com/agents.html"
} else {
alert("Invalid Password")
}
} else { alert("Invalid UserID")
}
}
.. So he visited the URL – and they accused him of hacking them.
You can’t make this stuff up can you!?
Quote from site comments:
thank you hackers for trying to destroy federal suppliers guides reputation
He should refer them to Computers for Dummies.
