Scott Nudds and 1Gig of RAM

I’ve just stumbled on a discussion about a newgroup posting 10 years ago, where someone called Kristian Thommesen (a student) was asking about the possibility of 1Gig RAM in PCs. Anyways – a user called Scott Nudds shot-him-down in flames saying that the maximum anyone could ever need is 200MB.

This throws up two things:

1) People NEVER EVER LEARN. God – everyone knows that bill gates said this about 640KB.

2) Some people just love to cause an argument.

After a bit of googling, I stumbled across quite a few postings here (#4) and there, and all of them seem to point to the fact that Scott Nudds was/is a troll.

Which leads me to my next point that people never learn: Don’t feed the trolls.

Yes, Nudds has been casting out his fishing line for quite a spell. I recall about 20 years ago he had the Fidonet C programming echo in an uproar over his contention that “C does not optimize”.
